It is the dry season again. The sadness in me comes back; because I know I can't enjoy any frozen desserts anymore. I avoid consuming dairy products as much as possible.
Even most frozen yogurt available in the market is not non-dairy-free at all. I worked in a hotel before and we use milk in making it.
As I observe, drinking milk makes me bloated and worst gives me loose bowel movement. I am still not sure if I am lactose intolerant, I haven't tested yet. But for the peace inside my gut, I just switch to a non-dairy diet.
I'm not 100% vegan. I still eat white meat from time to time. And I don't think I will be one, one day.
Luckily, while browsing on Instagram of The Vegan Grocer
Something caught my attention.
Wait, A VEGAN ICE CREAM? And yes it is made locally here in the Philippines. They also support coconut farmers here in our country. What a vision they have.
SuperScoops ice cream as they claimed is dairy-free, sweetened with coconut sugar, vegan (plant-based), no artificial colors or flavors. Wow, what a healthy way to indulge in something.
They have 10 flavors. Hazelnut Dream, Almond Cookie Dough, Coffee Cashew Crumble, Choco Brownie Madness, Vanilla Brownie Crumble, Strawberries and Cream, Vanilla Caramel Pecan, Dark Chocolate, Milky Matcha, and Choco Milk.
Without thinking twice, I ordered 4 flavors.
Coffee Cashew Crumble

Vanilla Caramel Pecan

Milky Matcha

Strawberries and Cream

100 ml is ranging from 100.00 to 120.00 php. While for pint 350.00 - 380.00 php.
You can view the complete pricelist on their site The Superfood Grocer.
It comes with cute packaging. I wonder if their packaging is also good for the planet. Because obviously, the lid is still plastic. Which I think is okay in the meantime. As I learned sustainability, the packaging is really crucial in business. So quitting using plastic is easy to say than done.

For plant-based ice cream, it is flavorful. Some people have this misconception that when it is vegan, the food will taste completely bland or taste like vegetables. Sad, Not all people are a fan of vegetables.
If you are worried about it, the cream itself doesn't taste coconut milk at all. It just tastes like a normal ice cream but won't make you feel guilty. hahaha
As of now, my favorite flavor is strawberries and cream.
