One of my friends recommends to me this IG shop that sells Vegan doughnuts. I want to try it because it is so rare to find inexpensive pastries that are vegan. One of the reason is, ingredients in making it also expensive. In addition to that, what's fascinates me is they make their doughnuts without using a bread mixer. If you work in a bakery you know how a mixer will save your day. Bread needs to be kneaded to develop gluten. That process is a labor-intensive one.

"Gluten refers to the proteins in cereal grains, such as wheat, barley and rye. Gluten is found in the endosperm (a type of tissue produced in seeds that are ground to make flour) and nourishes plant embryos during germination. Later on, gluten affects the elasticity of dough, acting as a glue to hold the food together, which in turn affects the chewiness of baked products."

Their store was named to-gulay short for TO-GO + Gulay. The owner told me that at first, they just want to sell ready-packed healthy meals. Their very first product was kimchi. But because of the high demands of their doughnuts. They decided to change their name to TO-Gulay Donuts.

For their dough, they don't use eggs in it. For milk substitutes, they use soy milk and for butter, they prefer vegan butter.

Their doughnut is not dense at all, despite that they made it using hands. And you what does it mean? A well-kneaded dough. Kudos for that.

As of right now, they have 4 flavors.

Kukis and Krim

While checking their flavors, I have noticed that they use Oreo cookies for their Kukis and Krim. Out of curiosity, I did some investigation. With all the information I gathered through the web. I learned that Oreo cookies don't have any animal products in their ingredients. Yes, You have read it right! OREO COOKIES ARE somehow "VEGAN". But since their company has other products that use dairy, they don't consider Oreo as a vegan. Talking about cross-contamination. If you don't have any strong allergens with milk or gluten, the cookies are safe. If you are interested to know more about it, I will put the link below.
